Our audits are commonly held against the will or without the knowledge of corrupt politicians and non-elected officials (Police Chiefs and Sheriffs are not beyond being bad actors). Very few local governments have proper methods or policies to hold their own accountable. Many local government officials ignore the County Ordnances or City Code of Ordnances, but many of these omissions are violations of state law. Our team goes in and conducts confidential volunteer interviews, we utilize the Open Records Act and other methods to get the documents . Corrupt acts will be exposed.

Transparicy.org defines political corruption as “the abuse of entrusted power for private gain.“

Small towns do have BIG city corruption

Most corrupt acts are occurring in the shadows and behind closed doors

Here are a few clues city officials or soon to be officials are acting in a corrupt manner;

1. Discussing city business in closed door meetings
2. Taking official action with regard to any matter under circumstances in which he knows or should know that he has a direct or indirect monetary interest in the subject matter of such matter or in the outcome of such official action which financially benefits them, friend or relative.
3. Getting kickbacks from city vendors. This could be repairs at their homes or businesses or just cash.
4. Election integrity issues related to their financial disclosure statements candidates submit.
5. Voting or influencing to have their property rezoned(usually from residential to commercial)
6. Intimidating / Bullying other city officials
7. Enabling or covering for bad acts of other city officials
8. A person who knowingly and willfully falsifies, conceals, or covers up by any trick, scheme, or device a material fact; makes a false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation; or makes or uses any false writing or document, knowing the same to contain any false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or entry.

11. No city official shall use city facilities, personnel, equipment or supplies for private purposes, except to the extent such are lawfully available to the public.
12. Council members conspiring to always vote / support the same issues.
13. Abuse of office
14. Violating ethic rules
15. Violations their oath of office
16. Engaging in other conduct which is unbecoming to a member, or which constitutes a breach of public trust.
17. Failing to comply with the city Charter and Ordinances

There are many more bad acts that could constitute corruption.

The majority of time, law enforcement will not get involved unless they have supporting documents or witnesses (They avoid political issues). That is when I step in. You can use the information I uncover it public to pressure an elected official or non-elected official to resign or use it against them for the election
